Traditionally the route was established to open up the escarpment to the trade route to the East and allow export of timber and Ore from the mine in the upper Bellingencatchment before it ceased operating many decades ago. Skywalk lookout is a 70m boardwalk that soars over the edge of the escarpment some 21m above the rainforest. Its not surprising when you catch your first glimpse. There is so much good food and beautiful places to discover in this little town so stick . The best place to take it all in is from Lavender Bridge, right in town. Bongil Bongil National Park is a 30 minute drive from Bellingen.
